MY LAST CLASS...!!!HAPPY OR SAD..??WELL..

Today`s class was my last class with this group, and I think that many things worked well today. First of all, the students came on time, so I began my class and I think that is was really nice for me and also for the students. The first activity was the warm-up I gave them a verb in present tense and they had to create a sentence using the present prerfect. The real class was with a little bit of grammar. I really liked the way they worked today. I reached my objective and they understood the class.


Maybe something that did not work well was that one student was saying in the whole class "I don`t understand teacher". but in Spanish. He always did that in every class, I don`t really pay attention to him because he likes to call everybody`s attention.



Today we worked in a semi-circle and everything was in pairs. They just had to change the partner in order to work with other people. I think that the students worked more when they are in couples, because they feel confidence about themselves than when working alone, and they also make a good job when working in pairs. One thing I know now is that I always have to correct students`mistakes and monitor them all the time in order to be not only usefull, but also to check their work and the understandable ideas they have from the class.
I think that students knew and got the most important things of the class, not only because all of them worked with the exercises, but also because if they had any doubt I tried to explain again.

MY SECOND CLASS...!!!! BETTER THAN THE FIRST ONE



Today was my second class with Intermediate English I with Teacher Karen. This class was really interesting and rewarding for me. Everything worked well. I coudn`t believe this, but it is true. For the warm-up activity I brought a crossword about the topic we were studying (prepositions of place) My objective was pretty clear students had to create sentences using the studied structure. All of them arrived to class, late, but they appeared. I felt really happy with this class because they worked in every activity I brought even the teacher participated with them. Something that didn`t like about this class is that they came late as I told you before, but the teacher told me to begin the class and I did. I used one classroom management such as semi-circle. I also used different interaction formats. For example : pair- work, group work and working in trios. They really enjoyed working in trios today. They had to create sentences by looking at the chart I brought and then read them.
I really liked the way in which my students worked today because they spoke more english and the teacher noticed that. When I asked them to say the paragraph they wrote.
I think that today was the day that these students worked the most. I brought more than 3 activites and they were writing,asking,paying attention,answering and also participating in all the activities I presented.


The activity in which the students used more English was when they were describing the given picture by using there is/there are and a preposition of place word. They did it well.
Something that is very important in order to reach the objective of the class is to set activities according to the objective for that day.

LAST PERIOD...AND FIRST CLASS...



This was my first class of the last period, and Iwas not so happy as I wish could be...but anyways I have to work hard to get not only new experiences,but also good grades. Today`s class was kind disappointed for me because when the class began the students were not there. It was hard to begin a normal class. I think that this was not my best time and my best class. Some things that did not work well were more than the good ones, but I know that we learn something new in every class. I brought 4 activities to be developed, but I couldn`t because of the time. I began late and then I didn`t have those minutes because they had to do something else with the teacher.


These particular students don`t speak much English just like 2 or 3 and they were thirteen. It was hard to begin with the warm-up activity because I only had the half of the class and they had to order some sentences it took more time to do this and they didn`t know several words, anyways I tried to explain the words and they read the sentences the were supposed to order. Something that called my attention was that they didn`t have the pasion or the feeling, not only to learn, but also to teach. They were kind of "calm" in the class or maybe because it was a little bit of grammar phase they got bored. In this class they only worked in pairs because of the activities I brought and since the beginning of the class I arranged a semi-circle as a classroom management.
I hope to do a better job and get better results for the next class. I felt really sad at the end of my class not only because of my class, but also because of my grade. I know that I have to accept and improve my teaching techniques and methods.

THIS IS MY LAST CLASS....



Today`s class was kind of sad for me because this was the last class I had with this group... I think that many things worked well today, but the feedback..¡¡¡ For the first time I brought 5 activities for the class. They were kind of short. Students worked hard today, but the best thing is that all of them participated. Something strange happened today,and it was that for the first time in the whole period all students were there. I didn`t know why until the teacher told me that they had an exam, so it was kind of hard for me to manage the whole group,but I think I could do it. Students were on task the whole morning. I brought the material for them to work there. I think I reached my objective for today`s class. It was that students had to their likes, dislikes, preferences, and wishes using gerunds, infinitives, and would like/prefer, not only an oral form, but also written. As always I brought some pictures and cards to perform the activities and make the class easier.

This particular group always worked in a semi-circle,so I continued doing that. I also used different interaction formats.For example : pair- work, group work (Three groups) When I was giving directions today I tried to be clear, and for the first time I did not repeat the directions. I really like working with them.

The activity in which the students used more English was when they had to build their own sentences using their wishes and preferences.

Finally, it is important for me to mention that classroom management and monitor is something that has been improving every class. It is nice to check that students are working and as always they want to ask you something. I could see today that flashcards or any otrher materials are really helpful and meaningful for my students, and also are a good activities for increasing speaking in the classroom.

THIS IS MY 4th CLASS AND....I`M STILL ENJOYING THIS

Today was my fourth class...and I liked a lot because I had to work with semi-controlled activities again... and I think that many things worked well today for example for the first time I brought a song in the warm-up activity. It contained the grammar structure studied in class, but something that didn`t work well was that some students didn`t like the song and I got angry so we didn`t sing it. Just practiced the grammar using some sentences from the lyric of the song.



I didn`t say I was angry, but I had to say that to the teacher because he asked me why I didn`t sing the song. I believe that we reached the objective because all the activities that the students did were focused on the main objective.




This is one important aspect not only for teachers, but also for students because after reading the objective they could see at the end of the class that they could do what it said.




I consider that this helped this group of students to understand better the grammar structure they are going to use when practicing not only in oral form, but also in written form. I explained something to them that was supposed to be taught , and they said that they got the idea. For this, I used the board, but for the oral exercises I tried to use some flashacards with sports. I was always monitoring and checking students`work.




I have been using different classroom management such as semi-circle and rows. I also have been using different interaction formats. For example : pairs and trios. Unfortunately, problems with students who don`t want to work with another classmate that is not his/her best friend, so today I told them with whom they were going to work with, and it worked well.



I think that the students worked more when they are in couples, because they feel confidence about themselves than when working alone, and they also make a good job when working in pairs. One thing I know now is that I always have to correct students`mistakes and monitor them all the time in order to be not only usefull, but also to check their work and the understandable ideas they have from the class.

THE THIRD CLASS...AND THERE IS SOMETHING NEW

Today was my third class with this group and as teacher we always learn something from our students. I had to teach the very controlled activities. I tried to bring material to develop the whole class. As in other classes some things worked more than well. For example the warm-up activity. I brought some flashcards and they had to say the sentence using the comparative form.

Something that did not work well was that I forgot some copies for the students and then I had to write the sentences on the board and it took more time to do this activity. This was because I left my material in the other folder. So I spent more time that it was supposed to, but the teacher didn`t know that I prepared this material.
I used only one classroom management such as semi-circle . I also used different interaction formats. For example : pair- work, group work and working in trios. They really enjoyed working in trios today.
I really liked the way in which my students worked today because they spoke more english and the teacher noticed that. When I asked them to say the sentences they wrote.
I think that today was the day that these students worked the most. I brought more than 4 activites and they were writing,asking,paying attention,answering and also participating in all the activities I presented.
Today I used some interaction formats for example : pairs, groups and in a circle. Finally, it is important for me to mention that classroom management and monitor is something that has been improving every class. It is nice to check that students are working, but at the same time I tried to correct students`mistakes all the time. I usually go around on every student and the teacher has told me that it is nice how I monitor my students in the classroom. I was not only checking, but also helping them.

The Second Class Better or Worse than the First one..??

This was my second class with teacher Alex in Intermediate English I. And I think that many things went well. The first one was the video activity we made for the first time in this course. Students enjoyed this activity and the best thing is that all of them participated..!!! and were paying attention, because I asked them to complete the guide I made myself for them to work and it was really nice to see that they did it well.
Another thing that worked well today was that I asked them to fill in the blanks with the topic they studied yesterday and they could do it too. It was kind of hard for them this topic, they are studying Comparatives and Superlatives, so what I did is to bring extra material in order to make easier the class. The teacher continued with the same topic, using a handout with a large list of adjectives in order to help them. I really like this group. I thought that it was going to be hard for me because I have an student that used to be with me in other group in believe me...he was really difficult.... but now he`s not...!!!

Something that did not work well today was that it took a lot of time to set everything to watch the video, and then I needed that time. The teacher could see that it was not my fault and after this bad thing the feedback he gave me was good.
I applied the comments the teacher told me the last class and they worked well. Today I used two different classroom management such as semi-circle and circle. I also used different interaction formats. For example : pair- work, group work and working in trios. They really enjoyed working in trios today.I really liked the way in which my students worked today because they spoke more english and the teacher noticed that. I finished my class very happy today because the teacher gave good comments about my class.... I hope to get good grades because I didn`t see any numbers...!!!!

THE FIRST CLASS OF MY SECOND PERIOD...!!!

I am happy today because I know that I am getting new experiences every day I teach.
Today’s class was good. Many things went well and I think that I reached the objective I was supposed to get with my students this day.
In today’s class I had the opportunity to teach with a new group. I was kind of worried because I knew that when teaching adolescents , teachers have to be not only well prepared to answer any question students may have,but also to be ready to understand first what they are going to teach. Something that went well today was the warm-up activity. I brought a lot of flashcards with famous people and they had to say something about the person they choose,but using the past tense. They enjoyed this activity and also the new teacher I have nowadays.

Something that did not work well was that I didn`t know that students didn`t have the appendix we were going to use. I asked the teacher, but he said that I should have asked before. What I did,was that I continued with the Grammar Phase. The only good thing in this is that at the end the teacher didn`t say anything about it.

The activities I presented helped them to work faster than in the previous activity in which I was evaluating my objective. For me, the activities were according to what I was asking the students to do in it.
For these two activities I used the board, but for the oral exercises I tried to use some flashacards with actions because we`re working with the past tense and the past continuous too. I was always monitoring and checking students`work.
I used different classroom management such as semi-circle, circle and rows. I also used different interaction formats. For example : pair- work, group work and working in trios.
I really liked the way in which my students worked today because they spoke more english when I asked them to say the sentences they wrote. The most interesting thing was that I really enjoyed today`s class it was really regarding for me and I think that it was also for my new students.

MY LAST CLASS...!!!!

This was my last class in this group, and today`s class was pretty comfortable and really nice, not only for me,but also for my students. Several thing worked well today. Since the beginning of the class I told them that we were going to work in pairs in all the activities,but they had to change the partner. they enjoyed these activities because they were sharing and playing with other classmates.

I don`t think that something did not work well today. We were having fun with these activities because we were in the Free Practice, so this was the part in which students spoke more English. I think that I reach my objective, and not only today`s objective, but the objective of the whole topic.

As I said before we worked in pairs the whole class, but changing partners. I didn`t say good bye, because I forgot it, but I said good bye to my tutor at the end. At the beginning of this period I felt kind of worried because this was the highest level, but now I feel satisfied with my work.

Almost the Last Class..!!





Today`s class was pretty rewarding for me because I could finish the lesson for this week, and I noticed that students got the idea let`s say about this new topic which was the use of "I wish".

Many things worked well today. For example the warm-up where they had to complete a chart with some wishes and regrets they have on their lives. Another thing was that for the first time they had to perform a dialogue in pairs. The funny thing in this activity was that they had to create their own conversation about "cheating" they created nice conversations and we had good times with the presentations.

Something that did not work well was that at the end of the class students didn`t want to work they were kind of bored because they said that this day they only came for this class and they didn`t want to do anything. I tried to make activities where they had to work in pairs in order to make them feel more comfortable. At the end they worked, but not as I wanted to be.

The activities I presented helped them to perform the activity in which I was evaluating my objective. For me, the activities were according to what I was asking the students to do in the objective.
I consider that this helped this group of students to understand better the grammar structure they are going to use when practicing not only in oral form, but also in written form.I have been using different classroom management such as semi-circle, circle and rows. My Third Class...Something New

This was my third class, and I really enjoyed and I think my students did it too. On today`s class I brought 4 activities to be developed with some flashcards which they liked by the way. Many things went well today. For example: the warm-up, I included all the students. I gave them a picture and they had to create a sentence using the the given structure( I wish I had...)some of them are pretty talkative,the good thing is that they speak only English. And have like four students who don`t participate so much in the class, because they`re kind of shy, but I always give them the chance to be involved in the class.
Something that did not work well was that for one activity I needed the complete group and some of them did not go to class. I didn`t know what to do. So I made the activity without them, but working in pairs. It was not the same because they were supposed to throw the dice and say some sentences, but in this case it took less time to make this activity.

To give the students the opportunity to practice the language in written form is a way to help the students to feel confident about their own thoughts and opinions when creating new sentences about the Reading the had, and also to feel confident about what they were doing in this activity. They participated, used their creativity and they also enjoyed the activities very much. I felt really happy today because the teacher could see that they not only worked today, but also they spoke more english in the class.
The actitivity in which students spoke more english was in the Questionnarie. They were giving me not only the anwers , but also their point of view about the Reading.
Today I used some interaction formats for example : pairs, trios.

MY SECOND CLASS...REALLY NICE


Today`s class was very active because I had to teach for the first time the control practice activities from the lesson. I think I got my objective on this class. Something that worked well today was that I made the class very interactive with students asking them to pass in front of the board to complete the sentences using I Wish at the beginning of each sentence. All of them passed and wrote their part in the board.
Something that did not work well today was that was raining in the whole class, and it was really hard not only for them, but also for me to teach. We had speak a loud and it was really difficult for me to continue with the class, and for them to participate.
The activity in which the students used more English was when they were saying their own sentences about their wishes.
Something that is very important for me and I think for most teachers is not only to reach, but also to check if students are reaching the objective. At the end of the class I always make some question to some students in order to know if they understood the class. I always monitor my classes and check students`work.
I used different classroom management such as semi-circle and circle. This particular group always work in a semi-circle. I also used different interaction formats.For example : pair- work, group work and working in trios. They really enjoyed working in pairs today.
They work better in pairs and I let them to do it if they don`t talk much, but if I see they`re talking I don`t make or work in pairs.
This group is very nice. When I was giving directions today I tried to be clear, and for the first time I did not repeat the directions. I really like working with them.
This group is really special because they really like to speak English. They do it every minute, they don`t like to speak Spanish. Only two girls are the ones who don`t speak to much English, but I ask them to participate anyways.

NEW TEACHER - NEW LEVEL- NEW CLASS

Being a good teacher is something that takes time. Teaching is not theory, but practice. Today was my first class in the group of Advance English I and I think that many things went well today and helped me to feel good and at the same time those things made my students to practice what they have learned.
In today`s class I was a kind of worried because I had never taught on this level before. Something I would like to share from this class that did not work well is that as this is an Advanced group you don`t teach by playing or performing activities like in Basic or even in Intermediate levels. First of all because they don`t like to play so much so it`s really difficult to envolve all students in a class that is only taught by reading or speaking.Though the group is small and it is not difficult to make all students participate in the class I just have to bring activities according not only to the topic,but also that these match with the objective. The activity in which the students used more English was when they were talking about the Reading they had from homework.I think they enjoy this part.
I used different classroom management such as semi-circle and circle. I also used different interaction formats. For example : pair- work, group work and working in trios.
Finally, it is important for me to mention that rapport is something that has been improving every class. It is nice to hear that students call me teacher, but at the same time I know that this fact makes me more committed. I think that establishing a good relationship with the students is a key to make them to participate in the different activities in the classroom and also this gives them the confidence to ask any question if they have any doubt. Thank God I consider that the rapport in my classroom is very good. This has helped me to see that in the classroom a teacher is not there just to teach, but also to be a friend and encourage those ones who really need a hand.I don`t know what I am going to teach the next class, but I think I`m ready to do it.
